Christmas Eve is an exciting time for children as they wait in anticipation for Santa to visit their home. Create fun and unforgettable memories and make the slow passing of the time never enter their thoughts.
Step 1: Volunteer
Volunteer at a homeless shelter or help deliver food to local seniors. The seniors will delight in telling stories of Christmas when they were young, and your children will delight in hearing them.
Step 2: Make crafts
Make crafts such as a paper airplane, a card for Santa, a bird feeder, or a decorative ornament.
Step 3: Look at decorations
Drive around your neighborhood or take a nice walk and look at all the Christmas lights and decorations in the yards.
Step 4: Sing
Sing Christmas carols with family members or for neighbors.
Step 5: Bake
Bake some cookies for Santa. Decorate them with different-colored icing.
Tip
Don't forget to put the cookies out for Santa with some milk and carrots for the reindeer.
Step 6: Share
Have each member share what they are thankful for over dinner.
Step 7: Watch a movie
Snuggle together and watch a favorite holiday movie. Don't forget the hot cocoa.
Step 8: Read
Curl up in bed and read a favorite holiday story such as "The Night Before Christmas." Have a good night's sleep.
Did You Know?
The use of electric Christmas lights began in 1882 when Edward Johnson, partner in the Edison Illumination Company, hand-wired 80 red, white, and blue bulbs and wound them around a rotating evergreen tree in his home.
