Construction Training Fund (CTF) is providing opportunities for a lot of people to make their career in the building and construction industry, including bricklayers like Daniel Passurelli. Daniel has had a lot of fulfilment out of his job as a bricklayer and he really enjoys the active aspect of the day to day work, preferring it to the university system where he didn't feel like it was a good fit.
The Apprenticeship and Traineeship Grant for Employers has lead to opportunities to be trained as a bricklayer in the construction industry.

- Are good at maths, design and technology and manual studies such as woodwork

There are a lot of great opportunities at the moment for bricklayers within construction jobs. A typical working day may involve a variety of different tasks.
On the job you will often be:
- mixing mortar using a cement mixer and shovel
- using tools to cut bricks
- checking your work using lines and levels
- preparing and laying brick, stone, structure tiles, marble, concrete block and other masonry materials to build or repair walls, partitions, fireplaces and other structures
- estimating the quantity of materials required by measuring surfaces or reviewing work orders
- reading and interpreting drawings and blueprints
- calculating the materials required
