In this video I ask the question if now is a good time to invest in shares in the FTSE 100 oil and gas company, BP. The price of oil and gas has increased rapidly, recently and BP PLC or British Petroleum is one of the world’s largest oil and gas “supermajors” and therefore will be in a good position to capitalise as demand for its products intensifies. I have held shares in BP for a decade and in this video I reveal my total holding of BP in my diversified dividend portfolio. I also explain how BPs share price has moved historically to events including the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. I describe how BP is vertically integrated and I explain how BP is strategically responding to disruption in the energy industry by investing in renewable energy.
BP is just one of well over 20 companies I own in the FTSE 100 index. My aim is to buy large cap companies with economic moats and good balance sheets which generate reliable dividends. By drip feeding money in over time and allowing the dividends to compound you are increasing your chances of building long term wealth and beating inflation.
