The refreshed 2024 Ford F-150 lineup made its debut at the 2023 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, and we were there to check it out. Road Test Editor Brian Normile got to see a wide variety of Ford’s latest half-ton pickup truck.
The F-150 gets a smattering of smart updates without going overboard on styling changes inside or out. The 12-inch touchscreen display and 12-inch digital instrument panel are now standard across the F-150 lineup, and Ford’s Blue Cruise hands-free driving system is more widely available than before (though also now as a subscription-based feature). Ford’s new Pro Access Tailgate may be the best tailgate innovation of the segment, with a convenient driver-side handle that opens a section of the tailgate up to 100 degrees for easier access to items in the bed or in the new bedside cargo box.
Both the Raptor and Tremor off-road trucks get a new modular front bumper that allows for easy installation of dealer accessories, including a light bar or a new Warn winch; the Raptor’s also has larger cutouts at the ends to expose more of the front tires for a meaner look that adds more off-road capability.
