Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise has decided to join Bayern Munich, putting an end to speculation about his future. Bayern are now expected to finalize a deal with Palace for the 22-year-old French youth international.
Previously, Bayern had contacted Palace, while Chelsea were also given permission to speak to Olise. However, Chelsea backed out due to financial constraints. Newcastle United showed interest as well, with Manchester United and Manchester City maintaining long-term interest in the player.
Olise nearly joined Chelsea last summer but opted to stay with Palace, signing a new four-year contract. In the 2023-24 season, he scored 10 goals and provided six assists in 19 appearances under new manager Oliver Glasner, despite being hampered by a hamstring injury. His performance earned him a spot in France's preliminary squad for the Olympic Games.
Olise's creative and game-changing abilities make him a valuable addition to Bayern. His nine non-penalty goals last season came from an expected-goals (xG) figure of only 4.7, highlighting his efficiency. His six assists followed a record 11 assists in the previous Premier League season.
