A short video of a 1909 Proof Barber Quarter Dollar which has been graded PR67CAM by PCGS. Here is a 1909 Proof Barber Quarter which has been graded PR67CAM by PCGS and is encapsulated in one of the newer-style edge-view holders. This coin is amazing. The proof mirrored fields on both sides of the coin are deep and the devices on each side are quite frosty. From what I have seen in other proof Barber Quarters, this piece is very close to meeting the standard for DCAM, yet it only received the CAM designation from PCGS. In hand, the coin appears to be virtually flawless. Upon a closer inspection, there are a few light hairlines on the obverse on Liberty’s cheek and one small scratch just above Liberty’s eye that is unnoticed until you tilt the coin at the perfect (or maybe it should be imperfect) angle. The 1909 proof Barber Quarter had a total mintage of only 650 coins and it is a certainty that only a small fraction of those have survived to this date in this condition. At PCGS, a total of five (5) examples have been graded at the PR67CAM grade with just two (2) coins grading higher at PR67+CAM; no examples of this date have received the DCAM designation at PCGS. All said, the eye appeal of this high grade proof coin is spectacular and it would be the star of just about any collection.
