Plant cells were first exposed to salt water and subsequently plasmolyzed. Then the salt water was diverted off the slide with the use of a paper towel after applying distilled water adjacent to the slide cover. This soaked up the salt water and drew the distilled water under the slide cover. As a result, the plant cells soaked up the water from the outside since it contained a smaller water potential.
