Golf instructor Sean Foley says for great ball-striking, shift your weight like a pro.
Transcript
The beautiful thing about teaching golf in
is that we now have the ability, because of science,
to actually measure things that we've talked about
for years in golf instruction.
In a case study of about players,
in a PGA tour player,
from a seven iron to a driver,
to percent of the weight was in the left side.
And then at the top of the swing,
average about % of the weight was into the right side.
The interesting part about this is
that didn't mean their head was moving,
at all during the golf swing.
They were still very centered,
but it's not just a function of weight shift.
The weight shift is the center of mass,
and the center of pressure.
The message to amateurs is that you have to use your mass
to help create velocity.
By setting up,
and hitting golf balls,
there has to be movement from the right side
into the left side, during the golf swing,
which helps us be obviously more accurate,
as far as allowing us to create more energy.
