This is another video in my series “ Walks in Hampshire” accompanied by my Whippet (Logan). In this episode, I visit the villages of Chawton & Farringdon in North Hampshire and undertake a 4 mile circular walk.
I park my car, for free, in the centre of Chawton directly opposite my first destination – Chawton Cottage (once the home of one of the village's most famous residents – Jane Austen). I take a stroll through the village, passing by one of the oldest houses in Hampshire, and make my way to church of St Nicholas (which has a statute of Jane Austen outside).
After a quick look at the outside of Chawton House (once the home of Jane Austen's brother), I continue South through Chawton Park to Farringdon. Here I take another little exploration through this very pretty village, checking out the church, a lovely village garden with wild flowers and the extraordinary building known as Massey's Folly.
I then head West, crossing the A32, and follow the line of the old Meon Valley disused railway back to Chawton. Along the way way I explore something connected to a Cadbury's Milk Tray advert (you will need to watch the video the find out about that!).
My journey ends back at Chawton for light refreshments at the village pub.
