Kharkiv residents on Thursday honored killed Ukrainian soldiers on the country's Independence Day.
Kateryna Krotchenko travelled to a cemetery to clean the grave of her son Serhii.
"They paid the price of their lives so that we could live and our country could be independent," Korotchenko said.
Serhii Krotchenko was a volunteer and decided to fight when Russia's full-scale invasion started.
He was killed near Bakhmut in November.
Nearby in Freedom Square, other residents went to the destroyed Kharkiv Regional Military Administration to celebrate Independence Day.
