Despite a severe heat wave that has been blamed for several deaths, hundreds of tourists, including Europeans and Americans, continued to flock to Death Valley National Park in California to experience the extreme heat, which has reached as high as 128°F (53.3°C) in some areas. The heat wave has also led to record-breaking temperatures in other parts of the United States, including Oregon, where four suspected heat-related deaths have been reported, and Nevada, where Las Vegas set a record high of 120°F (48.8°C) on Sunday. The extreme heat is expected to continue throughout the week, with temperatures potentially reaching as high as 130°F (54.4°C) in some areas, and has also led to a prolonged drought and increased risk of wildfires in the West.
