In this MPC LIVE video overview I take a look at the warp function within drum programs. I also compare the result of Timestretching vs warp on a drum break loop.
I decide that timestretch sounds best when processing a sample to a slower tempo and warp can also be very effective but when used in moderation.
I sample loops from 3 vinyl sources, a drum break, a piano loop, and a string loop. I then also chop each into 4 chops and use the warp function to adjust them all to fit the same key by pitching each chop while remaining in the same tempo.
