Going through how I use the shake table within the seismology & earthquakes unit. The students undertake a STEM project covering design, engineering, plate tectonics, geography and construction. Culminating in their buildings being placed on the shake table and going through the simulation of different sized earthquakes. The affect on the buildings is observed and noted as data.
Students observe the range in earthquake intensity, seismic waves, particle motion, propagation, velocities, quake duration and magnitudes.
