"You can't do the rap." Why? "Because you're white."
In 2018 I was an Outreach and Engagement Librarian working in Smith College Libraries when I was asked by my employers to create something “wild and crazy" for the Fall 2018 library orientation. I worked for over 2 months to create a presentation in the form of a rap, a project approved by my supervisor. Less than one week before the event, I was informed I could not perform the rap, which comprised the main portion of the event. Why? “Because you’re white.”
The rap alternates between the "The Librarian" performing the original rap and "The Plaintiff" rapping about the litigation.

It's 2018 and you are an incoming first-year student at Smith College. Neilson Library (the main library) is closed for renovations for the next two years, but don't worry! There are three other libraries on campus. That's right! And although these are subject speciality libraries, they are open to everyone, no matter your field of study...
