The Spanish Civil Guard’s Maritime Service intercepted a boat off the coast of Murcia and seized nearly 15 tonnes of hashish. The Civil Guard arrested two people of Bulgarian and Dutch nationalities aboard the boat during the operation from September 10-11.
The operation was carried out as part of European Union border control agency Frontex’s initiative, Indalo, which monitors illegal immigration flows and criminal activity along the Mediterranean coast, according to Reuters. The initiative has seen 38 tonnes hashish seized, 33 people arrested and more than 2,000 immigrants saved as of September 14.
