We may think our garbage disposal can take everything, but not always and yes a garbage disposal can get jammed.
Step 1 - Check if the outlet to your garbage disposal is working properly. It may just be a GFCI needs reset.
Step 2 - Is there a low hum when you turn on the garbage disposal? That means the disposal is not working correctly, and it is possibly jammed.
Step 3 - Turn off the switch of the disposal and turn off the breaker box to the garbage disposal.
Step 4 - Check with your flashlight if you see anything that could be jammed in the disposal.
Step 5 - Place the small bucket or towels underneath the disposal for any leaks.
Step 6 - Unplug the disposal below the sink and place a small bucket underneath the disposal.
Step 7 - Grab the hex key and insert into the bottom of the disposal and manually turn the propeller clockwise.
Step 8 - Plug disposal back in and hit the reset button underneath the disposal unit. It is normally a small red button at the bottom of the unit.
Step 9 - Run cold water in the kitchen sink. If it is still not working. Repeat the steps.
