Following its launch at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2003, the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) set out on a mission to reduce poverty by ensuring that policy is informed by scientific evidence.
Through the pioneering use of randomised control trials to isolate what really works in combatting poverty, J-PAL has since conducted over 1640 impact evaluations across 95 countries and transformed how evidence is applied to policy change.
J-PAL's network of seven regional offices are hosted at universities around the world and lead research, policy engagement and training.
