Rohu also known as ‘Rui’ or ‘Roho’ or ‘Labeo Rohita’ is found in rivers in South Asia.
Rohu fish contains many health benefits and one important benefit to know is it contains omega 3 fatty acids which are very essential for all of us. It helps in the development of memory.
Rohu fish curry is very healthy and easy recipe. It is a complete aquaculture fish which is very rich in protein and good for health. This spicy and delicious fish curry is such an uncomplicated dish and can be prepared in a jiffy with the items easily available in the pantry and tastes best with steamed white rice.
Notes :
1. Please let it rest for 2 to 3 hours allowing the fish to soak up the flavorsome masala before serving.
2. Adjust the consistency of the fish curry according to your liking. Add more water if you like.
Ingredients :
400 gms 6 pieces Rohu Fish (washed & cleaned well)
Marination :
½ tsp Turmeric Powder
½ tsp Red Chilli Powder
½ tsp Salt (or as per taste)
1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
1 tbsp Gram Flour (Besan)
1 tbsp Lemon Juice
1 tbsp Water if required
2 tbsp Vegetable Oil for frying the fish pieces
For the Gravy :
2 tbsp Vegetable Oil
¼ tsp Fennel Seeds (saunf)
¼ tsp Cumin Seeds (jeera)
1 large Onion (130 to 140 gms) finely chopped
8 to 10 Garlic cloves (finely chopped)
½ inch Ginger (finely chopped)
1 large Tomato (125 to 130) finely chopped or grated
½ tsp Salt (or as per taste)
½ tsp Turmeric Powder
1 tbsp Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder
½ tsp Cumin Powder (Jeera Powder)
1 tsp Coriander Powder (Dhaniya Powder)
1 tsp Garam Masala Powder
300 ml Water
Chopped Coriander Leaves for garnishing
Note : tsp is teaspoon
tbsp is tablespoon
