This audio recording from Florence Nightingale was originally recorded on a wax cylinder at Florence Nightingale house, London, on the 30th July 1890. Though it is somewhat difficult in places to decipher what she is saying, the recording says the following:
‘When I am no longer even a memory, just a name, I hope my voice may perpetuate the great work of my life. God bless my dear old comrades at Balaclava and bring them safe to shore. Florence Nightingale.’
