The “Song of Everlasting Sorrow” show in Huaqing Hotspring in Xian is absolutely overwhelming, one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. The video doesn’t do it justice. It’s an outdoor performance against the backdrop of Lishan Mountain and surrounding ponds and pavilions. The historical drama depicts the love story of Emperor Xuanzong and his favorite concubine Yang Yuhuan during the Tang Dynasty (618-907). The audience is stimulated not only with beautiful music and dazzling performances but also with scents, varying temperatures etc. At some point the mountains are even lit up with a gazillion little lights ... Quite the experience!
