Accidents can occur in the loading and unloading process during pipe loads for flatbed trucking operations. As the title states, Shift Happens! But it really doesn't have to. There are precautions you can take to avoid it happening to you. Situational Awareness, proper securement and communication all reduce risk and keep truckers, loaders and others safe.

Trucker Drivers are always included in any list of most dangerous jobs. A large part of that is related to the dangers and hazards associated with driving. However, an often overlooked area of risk is the exposures that occur while the truck is stopped, this includes getting in/out of the cab and loading/unloading operations such as securement. These exposures can be drastically reduced and even eliminated with some precautions. Flatbed operations and especially piple loads present some critical dangers that we explore in this video. Situational Awareness is a key factor to ensure that drivers are safe and loading and unloading is successful. Accidents can occur but that can also be avoided.
