Finya and Florin are summoned to the summer realm by the mermaid, Serena, to help the seafolk get their stolen pearls back. Through a magical spell, they too become mermaids and men and go in search of the pearls. When Florin is more interested in the mermaids than in the pearls that have disappeared, the jealous Finya goes off alone to stop Segor, the grumpy king of seaweed.
