Rolf Reitz is developing advanced computer models for fuel injected engines, including diesel and spark-ignited engines. Here he discusses the benefit that accurate spray modeling and combustion simulation can have in bringing forth new engine concepts like RCCI. Reitz is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University of Wisconsin-Madison.
