I'm trying to get a Wahoo Kickr working. I've done a couple of installations and this one won't work. Leave comments if you have an idea. The next step is to return it.
I do notice that the firmware is 2.0.19
The working device has 2.0.28
But the Wahoo app does not give me the option to update the firmware even though I'm connecting on Bluetooth 4.0 as instructed.
Problem solved! It was the firmware. Although the individual purchased the Kickr 'new', it had been sitting on the shelf at a store for a long time. It had old firmware. After updating firmware, it worked perfectly.
Note, I was using Android to run the Wahoo app. There is a secret menu to update the firmware. I don't recall it right now, but I'll update when I find it again. OTOH, the wahoo fitness IOS app automatically check firmware. If you are not up to date, it will ask you if you would like to update.
Take home message - on a new Kickr, make sure you have recent firmware. If you are using Android, you might have to borrow an Ipad or Iphone briefly, load the app, run it. It will auto ask for updates if applicable. I'll find out how the Android app does the firmware at some point and update this commentary.
