The Black Crown, a sacred symbol of their spiritual realization, is said to have been woven by dakinis from their own hair. This distinctive crown has become synonymous with the Karmapa lineage.

Two individuals, Ogyen Trinley Dorje and Trinley Thaye Dorje, both laying claim to the title of the 17th Karmapa, have divided the community and raised questions about the rightful successor.
