July 22, 2013--Progressive groups led by Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN) marched along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City to hold their own version of the people's state of the nation address (SONA).

Instead, the protesters were greeted with barricades, barbed wires, trucks and thousands of police force to prevent them from reaching the gates of Batasan Complex where President Noynoy Aquino will deliver his SONA.

The protest went violent when the protesters got through the fences and marched on the other lane of Commonwealth Avenue and the police violently dispersed them.
According to reports, 40 from the protesters were injured during the scuffle while 10 were arrested and detained at Camp Karingal in Quezon City.

The groups were not able to reach the market before Batasan complex which they were negotiating and held their program along Ever Commonwealth instead.
