Defying Gravity at Home (FORK - TOOTHPICK BALANCE EXPERIMENT) | Physical Equilibrium | The fork toothpick balance trick | How to balance two forks on a toothpick | Fork toothpick glass trick
This video is one of physical equilibrium examples. Here we use two forks to balance on a toothpick which is ultimately balanced on the edge of a glass tumbler.
The two forks are first clamped against each other. Then a toothpick is inserted between them carefully as shown in the video. Then the fork toothpick system is balanced on the edge of a glass.
The most intriguing part is when the back of the toothpick is set on fire. The fire burns the extra part of the toothpick and makes the apparatus look magical.
It appears that we have defied gravity in this video. At the first glance it appears impossible to even think about the possibility of the set up apparatus. But, physical equilibrium provides the explanation.
The distribution of the mass is such that the net mass of the system is balanced by the base of the glass. I have explained this is this video.
Hope this video offers a clearer version of this famous experiment.
