Sacramento District Attorney Thien Ho is suing city leaders, claiming that they’ve stood by as a spiraling homelessness crisis has allowed California’s capital to “collapse into chaos.”
Ho’s lawsuit, which was announced during a Tuesday press briefing, accuses the city of creating a public nuisance, but does not name specific city figures as defendants.
The suit includes the accounts of dozens of city residents living among 14 encampments of homeless people. Some of those residents recounted being threatened with guns, or having their homes broken into and vandalized amid the deteriorating conditions.
