Todaiji Temple is a landmark of Nara and one of Japan's most historically significant temples. The main hall is the largest wooden building in the world, and contains one of Japan's largest bronze statues of Buddha. Deer from the adjacent Nara National Park roam the grounds freely and are considered national treasures.
