In May 1913 in Paris at the theater on the Champs Elysees the premiere of the ballet The Rite of Spring took place. Created by a constellation of Russian talents: Stravinsky, Nijinsky, Roerich and Diaghilev. The ballet was a turning point in the history of arts. The public took the innovative work almost as a mockery. Instead of harmony - uneven rhythms, instead of graceful pas and pointe shoes - clubfoot jumps and bast shoes, instead of elegant packs - colorful shirts and painted faces. The performance was booed. Even the police were called, the lights were turned off several times in the hall to calm the excited spectators. The following year, a concert performance of The Rite of Spring was given, along with music for another ballet, Petrushka and three more performances on the ballet stage, after which it was cancelled. Only in 1987 it saw the light again after 25 years of restoration work. To date, 50 new versions of the ballet have been created. Among the most famous is the interpretation of the famous German ballerina and choreographer Pina Bausch.
