As part of the I-CHANGE project, UCD and Academy of the Near Future are teaming up with schools in Dublin to encourage more active travel across our communities. Our team will facilitate students through multiple workshops encouraging them to participate in citizen science. Students will use traffic counters and air pollution sensors to collect environmental data about their local area, and then use this data to identify environmental challenges facing their community, be it heavy rush-hour traffic, poor cycling infrastructure, or increased air pollution. Students will then co-create an action project that tries to solve the local challenges they have identified, such as organising a cycling bus, creating a local awareness campaign or setting up a car-free zone around their school.
