After the United States put out a reaction to Rahul Gandhi's conviction, Germany has also issued a statement. A spokesperson for Germany's Foreign Minsitry said the government has acknowledged the initial verdict against Rahul Gandhi and his suspension from parliamentary duties.
“To our knowledge, Mr Gandhi is in a position to appeal the verdict. It will then become clear whether this verdict will stand and whether the suspension of his mandate has any basis,” she said.
“We expect that the standards of judicial independence and fundamental democratic principles will equally apply to the proceedings against Rahul Gandhi.
