The Saving Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Online virtual presentation took place on Friday, May 13, 2022.
Hosted by SJSU King Library, special guest speakers Anna E. Kijas from Tufts University and Quinn Dombrowski from Stanford University discussed the story behind the grassroots organization Saving Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Online (SUCHO).
This group of more than 1,300 cultural heritage professionals – librarians, archivists, researchers, programmers – are working together to identify and archive at-risk sites, digital content, and data in Ukrainian cultural heritage institutions while the country is under attack.
So far SUCHO has saved more than 30TB of scanned documents, artworks, and many other digital materials from 3,500+ websites of Ukrainian museums, libraries, and archives. Come learn how the organization came into being, how the process works, and the volunteer opportunities that are available.
