"Be yourself" is an extremely common piece of advice. "Being yourself will solve all of your problems", we are told. What if I told you that being yourself can create more problems than it solves?
Of course I am an advocate for being yourself, but it is easier said than done. Nobody actually cares about you being yourself, what they care about is a socially acceptable version of yourself. But there has to be more to it than that, right?
