The Italian port of Brindisi was busy on Saturday (12/4) and
Sunday (13/4) as troops intended for the multinational force for
Albania arrived and left.
The Italian ship San Giusto departed for Albania late on
Saturday night (12/4), carrying some of the 6,000 troops to be
deployed in the Italian-led force from eight participating
countries.
Italian prime minister, Romano Prodi, paid a morale-boosting
visit to another vessel, the Vittorio Veneto, on the same day,
before his departure to Tirana for talks with Albanian leaders.
On Sunday (13/4), two Spanish vessels arrived at Brindisi en
route to Albania, carrying military vehicles, helicopters and
troops.
