South Korea, the United States, and Japan are planning to hold a vice foreign ministerial meeting in Seoul this month, according to a Seoul government source.
If materializes, it will be the third vice foreign ministers' meeting of the three allies. The three previously held the first such meeting in Washington last April, and the second in Tokyo on January 16, 10 days after North Korea conducted its fourth nuclear test.
The Seoul government source said the three vice foreign ministers are expected to discuss their countries' cooperation in implementing sanctions on North Korea to follow up the U.N. Security Council's latest resolution on penalizing the communist state for its latest nuclear test and long-range rocket launch.
The ministers will also likely talk about countermeasures against North Korea's further provocative acts.
South Korean Vice Foreign Minister Lim Sung-Nam, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Tony Blinken and Japanese Vice Foreign Minister Akitaka Saiki are expected to join the meeting.
