Brexit: SNP's Ian Blackford vows to cause 'maximum disruption' to Theresa May's government. The SNP's leader at Westminster says his party's 35 MPs will cause "maximum disruption" in the Commons to disrupt the Tory government's agenda on Brexit and other issues. In a fiery speech at the SNP conference in Glasgow, Ian Blackford signalled he is prepared to stage more walkouts like the protest which disrupted Prime Minister's Questions in June. After Mr Blackford was ordered to leave the chamber by Speaker John Bercow for repeatedly calling for parliament to sit in private and refusing to sit down, all the SNP MPs stormed out after him. In his conference speech, Mr Blackford declared: "Let those in Westminster hear this. "If contempt continues to be shown to the people of Scotland and our parliament, SNP MPs will not hesitate in causing maximum disruption to this Tory government's agenda when and where Scotland needs us to." Sturgeon wants N Ireland backstop deal for Scotland. Shortly after his speech he told Sky News: "I've got a few things up my sleeve. I can't say what for obvious reasons." Mr Blackford's threat came in an angry attack on the government over Brexit in which he said: "The prime minister needs to accept that Chequers has bounced." He said the SNP's MPs would vote against any Brexit deal that takes the UK out of the single market and customs union, a "blind Brexit", where little was known about the substance of the deal, or a no-deal Brexit. At one point, Mr Blackford said the Scottish people did not vote for "breakfast". He appeared not to notice his mistake and later told News it had been accidental, not deliberate. He meant to say: "The people of Scotland didn't vote for this Tory government, they didn't vote to have a referendum on leaving the EU, they didn't vote for Brexit, they didn't vote for a hard Brexit and they certainly didn't vote to come crashing out of the EU with no deal."
