For those that want the flexibility of a medicare supplement, but can't afford the higher prices of a plan F (if you qualify), G, or N, a high deductible plan is an alternative option.
For the HDF and HDG plan, you are responsible for paying $2,340 deductible before you are covered fully like the plan F or plan G. Once you reach that number you covered for the rest of the calendar year.
These plans can be very affordable and in most cases are less than $100/month.
Here is how it works:
As you use your coverage you will pay:
Part A Deductible (in 2020): $1,408
Part B Deductible (in 2020): $198
Medicare then pays: 80% of medicare approved costs
You pay: 20% of medicare approved costs
Once you reach $2,340 paid (included the part A & B deductibles) you are then covered 100% for the rest of the calendar year.
