A woman's death has sparked a homicide investigation in Pasco County, the sheriff's office said.
Deputies say their investigation began around 9:30 p.m. Thursday when someone called them about a death in Port Richey. When they arrived in the area of Margaret Drive, they met with an individual who found a woman dead.
Investigators say they believe the case "appears to be a delayed discovery of an apparent homicide." An investigation is ongoing.
The sheriff's office said it doesn't appear the public is in danger from this crime.
"On Dec. 21 around 9:30 p.m., Pasco Sheriff's Office responded to a call for service for a death in the area of Margaret Dr. in Port Richey after a deceased adult female was discovered by another individual," the sheriff's office said in a release. "At this time, this appears to be a delayed discovery of an apparent homicide. The investigation remains ongoing and there does not appear to be a public safety threat. No additional information is available at this time."
