This video is about unboxing and review of my new chuck Vicmarc VM120, that I had purchased as package deal, with couple of extra items included in the package, and as extra I have added two sets of jaws, that I will be also reviewing. I decided to see how much vibration I will get with the new chuck, so I have used an iPhone app called Seismograph. The purpose for these tests was to find the sweet spot of the standard jaws opening, where the vibrations will be minimal. While doing that I've decided to do the same test on my OneWay Stronghold chuck, and to compare the best results in both, to see which one performed better. This is in no way any scientific testing, just a lot of tests done on both chucks and I have picked up the best results. There was no load on any of the chucks, just the standard jaws, in both of them. There was a small wobble on the shark jaws from Vicmarc, at very low speeds, and I have to address that, but I have not done that on this video.
Read the safety instructions and the manuals on all the products that you use, since this is me sharing my experience, which might differ from yours. Note: On the Vicmarc chcuk there isa label for "max 2500 RPMs", on which speed the chuck performed flawlessly, but I have tested it out at the top speed on my lathe, about 3400 RPMs. I did it because when I do spindle work, my speeds are close to 3K RPMs and any vibration at those speeds will make very difficult to achieve a clean cut.
