Both the Russian army and Ukrainian army use this vehicle. Most of the
later models have a single diesel V-8 engine. They are designed to run on almost any available fuel. Some are equipped with a turret mounting a 30 mm self-loading cannon together with a co-axial 7.62 mm PKT machine gun with 2800 rounds fed by a belt. To power up the turret and arm the guns turn on 4 circuit breaker toggles at the top of the box behind the gunner's head. On the lower part of same box toggle up arming switches and look
for the green light indicating ready to fire. The PKT must be cocked back using the lever to the gunner's right. 30mm cannon usually carries 350 to 400 rounds depending on year model. The sight has one eyepiece for ground targets that is magnified and one for air targets that is not. On the instrument panel the round gages from right to left are the Speedometer in Kilometers, then the shift RPM limits, and third the engine RPM. To the drivers left find the box with 6 knobs this is the intercom, plug in helmet headphone and throat microphone to talk to commander and gunner while driving (it's noisy). Outside the vehicle there is a compartment with a
small gasoline engine that can provide turret and communication power.
Called an APU it's a generator to allow operation while main engine is shut down. On many of the turrets there are 6 smoke grenade launchers mounted to the back. All 8 wheels are powered and each tire has an inflation tube that can adjust inflation for terrain type. As well as "run flat capability.
