In this video we are introducing and exploring the split jump skill, as it's called in the MovNat System. This jump allows for a seamless transition from walking or running when the need arises to jump over or across an obstacle.
The key here is using the swing of the arms to thrust the weight of the upper body into the movement, while the throwing of the legs do the same for the weight of the lower body. synchronizing these two movements allow the whole body to hurl through the air with ease after a fair amount of practice.
Even if you never plan to jump, try the first "shifting" drill and you can still benefit from this movement pattern.
