Do we find justification by faith alone in the Fathers? Do we have canonized so-called Roman Catholic saints agreeing with the "Protestant" view? If so, their own church anathematizes their own holy saints according to the Council of Trent.
At the end of the day, church tradition, councils and fathers contradict each other over and over again but the Word of God is always true and stands firm. SCRIPTURE contradicts the Roman Catholic false gospel:
'For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.' Ephesians 2:8-9
'But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;' Titus 3:4-5
'But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,' Romans 4:5-6

Apologetics is my passion for the glory of Christ. And I would love to co-labor with you in the gospel and the truth, as we contend earnestly for the faith (Jude 1:3, Heb. 6:9-10, Gal. 6:6, 1Tim. 5:17-18, 3 John 1:8).
"But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak. For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister." (Hebrews 6:9-10, KJV)
