HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A forum on campus carry will happen at Texas Southern University tonight, where school officials have tightened security in the wake of several shootings on campus.
The meeting comes at a critical time for TSU, where recent gun violence killed two people outside the university's Courtyard Apartments and a third shooting happened near a campus museum.
In all three incidents, the shooters were not TSU students, but one victim was.
Brent Randall, 18, was shot and killed last Friday. Another person was critically wounded.
Following the shootings, TSU says it has implemented new security policies including mandatory sign-in at student housing, an 11pm curfew, random room checks, and a round-the-clock security presence.
Non-student visitors are no longer allowed in student housing. Security has been tripled on campus, university officials say.
The issue of guns on campus will come into sharp focus during the meeting tonight.
Last June, Gov. Greg Abbott signed campus carry legislation into law, allowing licensed holders to carry a concealed weapon on college campuses. The law takes effect in 2016.
