Short video of my custom made live fire Auto-9 from RoboCop.
Edited 11/09/23: I've been seeing a lot of recent comments criticizing why the pistol in this video doesn't fire in burst/full auto like it did in the movies (even though the video description says "Semi-Auto") so sit back, relax and I'll explain why.
If you aren't familiar with the US Gun Control Act of 1968, NFA (National Firearms Act) laws regarding machineguns, and the Hughes Amendment of 1986, then I'd understand why you'd be disappointed that this pistol is firing in semi-automatic (1 round per pull of the trigger) only. Please do a quick Google search and brush up on GCA/NFA laws and Hughes Amendment to understand the limitations placed on specific firearm ownership within the United States and then read the below paragraphs.
The actual gun that the real RoboCop Auto-9 pistol was designed around is the Berretta M93R machine pistol. The M93R (R stands for "Raffica" which is Italian for "volley", "flurry", or "burst") was initially produced in 1979 for Italian counter terrorism forces and later exported to other countries to be used by police and military. An extremely small number of M93R's made it to the United States for law enforcement/military applications. If you read up on the GCA/NFA laws and the Hughes Amendment I asked you to do above, then you would understand that a US civilian cannot own an imported machinegun after 1968 and cannot own any domestically manufactured machineguns made after 1986. Essentially what this all means is that a civilian cannot legally own a Berretta M93R machine pistol unless they obtain special licenses like an SOT (Special Occupational Tax).
However, there are clone M93R's out there made from modified Taurus frames and also the super rare Bixler-Boatman 93R that would be legal to own as a civilian but they are astronomically expensive. We are talking 100k plus if you can even find one for sale. I hope this explains why I went the semi-auto route. I spent less then 1/100th the cost of a transferable M93R clone to make a custom, semi-auto live firing RoboCop gun.
Now, if you read this far and are still displeased and pissed off at me because this gun doesn't fire like a machinegun seen in the movie, then I encourage you to donate below as I do not have 100k plus just laying around to make fully automatic movie props. I assure you that all donations will go to making my props more "screen accurate" for your pleasure...
