Dr Margaret Chan, Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), addresses participants at the launch of “End Violence: the Global Partnership”. Says hundreds of millions of children are affected by violence, which can cause serious, lifelong negative health and social effects. Announces launch of “INSPIRE: Seven strategies for ending violence against children”, a technical package that WHO and nine other agencies have developed. Dr Chan emphasizes WHO’s commitment to the Global Partnership and working with it to implement INSPIRE.
