1) Terumo Europe’s SurFlash IV Catheter
As the only safety IV catheter with a double-flash feature that verifies both needle and catheter placement, SurFlash improves first-stick success.
SurFlash catheters reduce needlestick injuries as it features a passive safety mechanism which encloses the needle with a protective sheath when it is removed. The Safety IV mechanism prevents blood contamination and accidental needle sticks - and it activates automatically.
It also features double flash indicators: a flash in the needle indicates that it has entered the vein and a second flash in the chamber occurs when the catheter is in the vein. Knowing the exact moment when both needle and catheter are in the vein helps professionals to decrease the risk of vein damage while increasing the chances of first stick success. Fewer sticks mean a better experience for clinicians and patients.
2) Aqua Guard Gloves
If you are a patient who is on long term IV therapy or recently had surgery or an orthopedic cast applied it is important that you keep the IV site, surgical site or cast dry to minimize the chances of infection and post-operative complications.
The AquaGuard Glove waterproof dressing provides a safe waterproof barrier when patients shower and is simple to apply and remove with no assistance needed, allowing for patient independence while showering. It contains no adhesive and doesn’t require uncomfortable rigid straps. Instead, the easy-to-use Water-Seal Band® is used to create a waterproof seal with a simple auto-locking buckle. The Water-Seal Band allows the patient to freely use their arm as they normally would and keep their site dry while they shower. It is ideal for keeping your PICC line, peripheral IV site, hand, or arm surgery site, wound or cast dry.
