Today we are going to take a look at the everyday life of German submariners during World War II. The German submarine was a real nightmare. Tight spaces, always wet, damp clothes and shoes, no ventilation - and all this for long months of the campaign. But first things first... Before setting out on a voyage that could last 12 weeks, the submarine took on up to 14 tons of supplies, full ammunition and the tanks were completely filled with fuel. There was virtually no free space left at all in the compartments. Everything was filled with fresh food - eggs, vegetables, fruit and meat. Fresh provisions were consumed first so that they didn't spoil, and then the crew switched to canned food. From drinks, submarines had tea, coffee, cocoa, juices, milk.
