As the urban heart of East Africa, Nairobi is a city of contrasts. From the sleek, modern towers that line Kenyatta Avenue to its lush Uhuru Park, to the quaint Jevanjee Gardens, to its thriving cafe culture (Nairobi Java House is one example), to the incredible Nairobi National Park and Langata Giraffe Sanctuary, this metropolis certainly has MANY draws. You will either love it or hate it, and I happen to be one of the former.

My second visit to this incredible city was less focused on exploring its many tourist draws, which I had previously visited back in 2011. This time, my purpose was to rest and relax at the incredible Hilton Nairobi Hotel, where I enjoyed all of the creature comforts of a modern five-star hotel in the heart of the downtown CBD. Here, I experienced the incredible perks of my gold elite status, including one of the most lavish and generous breakfast buffets known to man (it should be illegal!).

I ended my time in Nairobi by meeting a friendly local, Raphael, who gave me a tour around the heart of the city center. Nairobi is blessed with a mixture of both ultra-modern and historical colonial architecture, and I enjoyed strolling around its boulevards and avenues, discovering the beating heart of Kenya's incredible capital city.
