Winning leaders from the Peasants-Greens Karbauskis and Skvernelis meet the President Dalia Grybauskaite
President later meets leaders from conservative Homeland Union Kubilius and Landsbergis
Sound bite (Lithuanian), DALIA GRYBAUSKAITE, President of Lithuania: We can see a clear trust showed to the very concrete political powers. We can see how the parties ended up. The most votes went to Peasants-Greens. Without doubt they will decide and start negotiations to form the government. Our historical experience show that none of artificial coalitions survive long. Winning parties themselves must take their responsibility and agree to govern. Only this kind of coalition can survive the term.
More of winning Karbauskis and Skvernelis during the presser
Sound bite (Lithuanian), RAMUNAS VILPISAUSKAS, Director at Vilnius University Political Science and International Relations Institute: We have to add that quite a lot of their candidates in a single member districts were well known, maybe not in the capital, but in their own districts and they constantly stressed that they see the government formed not from politicians, but from professionals, all this let to use dissatisfaction with political parties and influenced much better than expected performance in the second round for Peasants-Greens, and clearly much better than Homeland Union.

Voxpops are from various cities
Sound bite (Lithuanian), a woman, voxpop: A party comes from nowhere with the unknown people and not so much professional as they claim.
Sound bite (Lithuanian), a woman, voxpop: You know some kind of novelties are needed. New and young people are needed, those who are very active and want to change something (reporter asks if this will be the case in the new Parliament?) I really hope so. (What you do expect?) Changing labor reform, at first.
Sound bite (Lithuanian), a man, voxpop: I think Social Democrats would have won, but when they adopted this labor reform, probably people changed their mind (reporter asks if the labor reform was crucial) I did not analyze myself, but at least people talk in Lithuania that labor reform changed the vote.
Sound bite (Lithuanian), a man, voxpop: Nothing can be done, we will live on, we saw many reports already from abroad and it is quite painful when Euronews say that ‘Farmers party’ has one. So that is my position.
Sound bite (Lithuanian), a man voxpop: It is good news for me as I am a peasant myself, a muzhik, what else is left for me? (What do you expect?) I don’t know, maybe more jobs, who knows.
Sound bite (Lithuanian), a woman, voxpop: Prime Minister Butkevicius worked honestly and people did not understand it in my opinion.
Sound bite (Lithuanian), a woman, voxpop: Now we will be a police state if we can use a black humor. I don’t know, people always expect for something, but those expectations are not always fulfilled, those expectations are strange among majority.
Sound bite (Lithuanian), a man, voxpop, uses strong language: Peasants? Peasants are fools. (Why?) Conservatives… I hate them and I do not want to see them. Excuse me.
